Archive of selected works of Turux,
1997 to 2001 by LIA
This collection brings together a selection of my "semi-automatic" artworks—pieces that evolve on screen and, in some cases, invite interaction.
Originally part of the website turux.org, these works were created during my time contributing to the project. When the original site became unavailable and the domain fell out of my control, I decided to preserve my contributions by hosting them on turux.at, ensuring they remain accessible to the public.
All Turux pieces were initially developed using Macromedia Director, a now-discontinued software that was widely used for creating interactive CD-ROMs, kiosk systems, and early web animations known as Shockwave files. These files could be viewed directly in a browser using the Shockwave plugin—both of which have since faded into digital history.
To keep these works alive, I have reprogrammed most of them using Processing and p5.js, making them fully viewable and interactive in modern web browsers. For the best experience, I recommend viewing these works on a laptop or desktop computer with a mouse.
This archive is both a look back at a pioneering era of digital art and a way to ensure these early experiments continue to be experienced today.
